How You Can Help
Ovarian cancer is called the "disease that whispers."
It invades the body almost unnoticed. And the facts are
frightening:
- 20,180 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer this
year
- 80% of those are not expected to survive five years
- What's worse, the incidence of ovarian cancer is increasing
But it doesn't have to be that way.
If diagnosed and treated at an early stage, 94 percent
of ovarian cancer patients will survive five years.
What can be done?
- We must educate more women about the subtle warning
signs of ovarian cancer because early diagnosis increases
the survival rate to 94%.
- We need to make more health professionals aware of what
tests should be conducted when a patient experiences symptoms.
- We must fund research for early detection and better
treatment of ovarian cancer. And we must find the resources
to help researchers find a cure.
